1961-1970
The sixties started with only the third double of League and Cup as Spurs added the FA Cup in 1961 beating Leicester City in the final. It was to be a decade of FA Cup pain for the Foxes as they played in and lost three finals.
After Spurs' win in 1961 they repeated the feat a year later, this time beating Burnley. For the rest of the decade we had a different winner every year, including Liverpool winning their first FA Cup in 1965 after beating Leeds United.
The final in 1970 was a fierce affair and a real clash of styles. Southern Dandies (and actually not-so-soft) Chelsea were pitted against hard-as-nails (quite literally) Leeds United. If the first game at Wembley was abrasive, then the replay at Old Trafford was virtually a pitch battle. Eventually flair overcame graft and Chelsea had won their first FA Cup. The seventies were here.
