As of now (4-6-10) there’s only a week to go…
Oh yes, it's coming. As surely as night follows day, it is coming. It's inexorable, trundling along, gathering speed all the time. In a short seven days time we'll be there (in front of the telly) with a beer in one hand and the remote in the other. Life will be on hold for a full month, or until such time as our favourite teams have gone out. For my money it's going to be difficult to see past the usual suspects of Brazil, Italy, Germany and Argentina - even with their slightly dodgy manager.
Honourable mentions will no doubt be given to England, but the minute we come up against somebody who can keep the ball better than us and heaven forbid, 'play the game', better than us then we're out. Dark horses are Spain, who after flattering to deceive at so many tournaments in the past, finally got it right at Euro 2008. So they may well dislodge one of the usual suspects - Argentina most likely.
