WC2010: US government issues terrorism warning to fans
Is this the first WC where somebody else poses a greater threat to people's enjoyment of the event than English football hooligans? Now it's easy to be sniffy, but one of the reasons that I have never once been to an England game, apart from the ridiculous notion that all home games should be played at the toilet that was /is Wembley Stadium, is the out and out obnoxiousness of England fans. Now I know that this is a sweeping generalisation, but what is it that drives supposedly sane men to behave in such a way? I'm not condoning terrorism in anyway shape or form, but the old saying that one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter makes an interesting point. The vast majority of football hooligans have no grievance to mitigate their actions.
