Argentina 1-0 Nigeria

Four games in and we saw the best game so far. It probably wasn't as close as the score line suggests, as Lionel Messi was on scintillating form and tested Nigeria's keeper on numerous occasions - a task that he tackled with relish and was not found wanting.

The only goal of the game came in the sixth minute as Gabriele Heinze dived to score with a header from a right wing corner - it was a great goal. Enyeama in the Africans' goal made save after save to deny Messi and Higuain and Messi again in twenty mid first half minutes. In the second half the pattern was pretty repeated but Nigeria had one or two chances of their own. On 70 minute Taye Taiwo came closest with a toe poke which almost grazed the left hand post of Argentina's 'keeper Sergio Romero. But it wasn't to be and the South Americans joined South Korea on 3 points, but behind them on goal difference. The next games are on Thursday and they see Argentina and South Korea take to the field at Soccer City before Nigeria and Greece play in Bloemfontein.
