Adidas dismisses England complaints about new ball

I'm inclined to agree with adidas. All the conspiracy theories about 'dem jeermans' having the ball to play with since February is such a load of old bollox as to be truly laughable. Fact is it's that old conflict between cost and value again. The Premier League has a deal with Nike to use their balls, so there is no chance that the Jubulani could have been used in the Prem, tut tut oh, no a deal's a deal. However, what ever multi-million pound deal was secured with Nike would most likely fade towards nothing in comparison with the likely bonanza if England were to actually get it together on the pitch and win the World Cup. Nothing ever changes with the English footballing mentality both on- and off the pitch.

Adidas was growing increasingly frustrated with England last night over repeated suggestions that other nations had been given the advantage of a greater period of time to practise with the World Cup match ball. There is a feeling among some in the England camp that getting access to the Adidas Jabulani ball proved difficult back in the spring, and that the players had only the 15-day run-in to the World Cup to train with it, handing a distinct advantage to the Germans because of the ball's use in the Bundesliga since February.
