Quite how this dismal game was decided is beyond me. The best bit was Pet Nevin on Radio 5 Live - I watched the pictures with the R5L commentary. Anyway, after a largely turgid first half, of which the best bit was Nadir Belhadj's free kick on 3 minutes. The Algerian 'keeper Faouzi Chaouchi had a couple of moments which were portentous as he flapped and flipped his way through various first half corners. To be honest, I'd lost interest by the time we got to 79 minute and Chaouchi out did Robert Green with Robert Koren's speculative 20 yarder. To be fair the ball did bounce in front of him but instead of dealing with it he allowed it almost to pass through him. As Pat said,
Faouzi Chaouchi's a complete imposter as a goalkeeper - absolutely hopeless.
Well said Pat. The most illuminating part of the whole afternoon's entertainment. Still, we have a positive result which at least makes the group more interesting...
