Beckenbauer: England have regressed under Capello

One supposes that when a man like Herr Beckenbauer speaks (or his 'ghost' writes) you should listen. I think that he's a man with a genuine affection for England - remember the Germans are not in anyway as rabidly anti-English as we are anti-German. Truth is, the FA's Blueprint from all those years ago, handed the game in England to the moneymakers and this seems to have made foreign signings the rule rather than the exception.

Franz Beckenbauer has stored up potential for a stormy clash between England and Germany by declaring that Fabio Capello's side have headed "backwards into the bad old days of kick and rush" on the evidence of Saturday's opening match against the United States and he has also suggested that there is very little that can be done to improve things.
