Ghana 1-1 Australia
This was a very hard fought point for Australia - although they could have won it when Luke Wilkshire forced a great save from Ghana 'keeper Kingson. Prior to that Brett Holman had opened the scoring for the Aussies after around ten minutes before the pivotal moment of the match first saw Harry Kewell sent off for handball on the line - was it ball to hand, did he put his hand out? Who knows? The Ref really had no option under the laws of the game so Harry was off. Subsequently Asamoah Gyan scored the penalty to make it 1-1, but that was the end of the scoring. As expected, Ghana had much the better of the play, but couldn't quite manage to take the game.
I did hear a chunk of commentary whilst in the bath (getting ready for this wedding thing) when Arlo White was trying to talk up the possibility of an Ashes battle in the Round of 16. Of course this depends very much on England qualifying in first place from Group C and Australia beating Serbia and hoping that Ghana can defeat the Germans. I know which is the more likely result or set of results... Danny Mills did a passable impression of shooting Mr White down in flames but I think the rest of the population were snorting with derision. I know that I managed to lose the soap!
