Lehmann: Germany’s time has come
I Don't know about you, but if the Spanish don't end up winning this time, than I'd have no problems with Germany winning. The biggest shame about England's dismal departure is that we aren't prepared to change to give ourselves a better chance of winning in the future. So watch this space for more overblown nonsense should England qualify for Euro 2012 and WC2014. The Germans, believe it or not, a humble nation who are prepared to take defeat on the chin and do whatever it takes to improve. Part of this improvement is having a stable system, for which the right players are selected, having been drilled in it for a number of years. We English with our square pegs and round holes (or is that round pegs and square holes) seem incapable of realising the same, instead electing to go down the 'fantasy football' route picking 11 players of which the whole is much less than the sum of its parts. Can it be Germany v Spain in the final?
