Harry in early running as poss. Capello replacement

I used to scoff at the likes of Harry Redknapp or, Heaven forbid, a Sam Allardyce being given the job of England manager, but to all intents and purposes why not? I mean, Mike Bassett might as well have the job. England's travails at World Cups and European Championships have very little to do with the coach that was in charge at the time. OK, perhaps Sven could have changed things against Brazil in 2002 or Portugal in 2004 and 2006 but the fact is the English game as currently configured can not and will not produce a team that is going to do well at one of these Jamborees.

The Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp yesterday admitted he would jump at the chance of managing England should Fabio Capello be sacked from the role following his side's awful World Cup campaign.
