Wolverhampton Wanderers
Formed in 1877, Wolves were one of the 12 founder members of the Football League. That they had to wait until 1953-54 to win it may come as a surprise especially considering the fact that deadly rivals West Brom won it as early as 1919-20. However once they did win it (pipping The Baggies in the process), Wolves set about winning it a couple more times in the same decade. This was the Stan Cullis era, when under his leadership the club not only won their three league titles as well as the FA Cup in 1949 and 1960, but were part of a revolution in football as floodlights were installed at Molineux and the team played against Racing Club of Argentina, Spartak Moscow and Honved of Hungary.
